In an age where almost any company claims sustainability, third party verification of sustainability reports is becoming increasingly important. In order to assist our clients with report verification, DQS is now a licensed assurance provider for the AA1000 framework.
AA1000 is a publicly available framework for sustainability reporting & assurance. The framework enables organizations to identify, understand and respond to sustainability issues, as well as to report on them and to be accountable to all stakeholders. Organizations that have implemented the AccountAbility Principles have the opportunity to increase the credibility of their sustainability reports with an assessment according to AA1000AS.
Besides AA1000, DQS also provides report verification according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework, as well as custom-made verification approaches.
EU Regulation on Non-Financial Reporting
In April 2014, the European Parliament adopted the directive on disclosure of non-financial and diversity information. The new rule only applies to companies with at least 500 employees and which are of public interested. Companies concerned will be required to report on their environmental impacts, labor conditions, human rights and business ethics. The directive will enter into force once adopted by the Council and published in the EU Official Journal. This means that reporting will firmly establish itself as common practice. Third party assurance can give you a competitive edge.
